3 | lb. | beef cubes for stew
¼ | c. | flour
1 | bottle | beer
| | olive oil
| | shallots or onions
| | salt
| | pepper
| | nutmeg
| - Start with about 3 pounds of beef.
- Mix about ¼ cup of flour with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
- Dust the beef cubes with the flour mix and brown in olive oil.
This works best in a heavy pot that can go from the stove top to the oven.
- After the meat is browned, add the shallots or onion and brown those a bit.
- Once everything is a bit brown, add a bottle of beer,
cover the pot, and put in the oven at 350°F for about 2 ½ to 3 hours
until it is nice and tender.
- Check it occasionally to make sure there is still liquid in the pot.
