On the first Saturday in May each year, the Central Jersey Bicycle Club hosts a well-organized and well-attended rally through the (rapidly disappearing) rural and farming areas of central Jersey. Rides run from 18-100 miles, with well-stocked rest stops sprinkled about. Lots of DOGS regularly attend.
This year a group of speedier DOGS got off at around 8:30 to do a 63-mile ride. The Wellses and we started about an hour later to do the 36-mile ride. Along the way we did some recruiting for DOGS among tandemists we encountered. We also came upon the Troikes, who were staffing the second rest area on our ride. They were about finished and ready to head home to take advantage of the delightful weather and get some good cycling in. At the end our respective rides, we gathered under the trees to gab and eat. While there, we discovered that the Andersons had done a century.
