Four teams arrived early on Friday and ate lunch at Isaac's to fuel up for the afternoon ride. The weatherman said the weather was iffy for the afternoon but we lucked out and had a nice and easy flat-to-rolling ride out to Intercourse PA and back. Along the route we stopped at Miller's Natural Food Store, which was quite interesting.
After cleaning up and hanging out in the hotel common area, we all agreed to drive to dinner at Miller's Smorgasbord between Bird-In-Hand and Intercourse. There we found that the only option was ALL YOU COULD EAT, which is one of the DOGS activities, but most decided to do the mid-option of the three choices and got the soup, salad and breads, instead of the complete food meal choice.
After dinner we browsed the quilt shop, and some ventured into the Wine shop for some wine tasting and made some purchases. We then hung out in the hotel common area and enjoyed some wine with the baked cookies the hotel provided while watching the Olympics on the TV.
On Saturday, five teams did the ride to Ephrata, one of those teams being, Dave & Janet, a new-to-tandeming couple from PA that we met at Mel's Tandem Weekend in June. Again the weather could not have been more beautiful for riding and we all had another nice ride, all staying together for the course of the ride. Ron & Barb A. arrived in the late afternoon while most teams were enjoying lunch and the pool outside.
We had five teams go to dinner at the Lancaster Brewery. Six people "teamed" up into three groups and each shared the 10-flavor Beer Sampler, while most others ordered the one that was already their favorite. We gathered again in the common area to chat and to see what was going on in the Olympics today, while again enjoying those delicious complementary cookies! Mike & Anne K. arrived in the evening to welcomes from all the teams. It was time to get to bed early since the ride tomorrow started early.
All six teams rode from the hotel to the ride start, a mere parking lot away. Two teams did the 1/2 metric while the four remaining teams did the full metric. This year's ride routes were different, but just as nice, with the lunch stops the same. It was yet another beautiful day for riding and when we returned, there were food, music, vendors, and prizes for the first to answer questions correctly. We enjoyed all the goings on before returning to the hotel to shower, thank the Hampton Inn for their wonderful hospitality, check out and drive home safely.
