Turkey Bike 9/Holiday Party
Saturday
Nov. 18
Turkey Bike is sponsored by CycleCraft and is a sort of charity ride where you start out at the bike shop, ride to a supermarket, buy a frozen turkey or two, carry it on your bike or back and bring it to a food bank for donation. The food bank will have a truck outside of SmartWorld Coffee in Denville, where coffee and snacks will be provided. The ride is free, but they ask you to register here so they can get a head count.

The basic schedule for the day will be as follows:

7:45 am - wheels down from the Bianco's home - ride to CycleCraft in Parsippany
8:30 am - wheels down from CycleCraft for the actual TurkeyBike ride
noon-ish - Lunch at the Bianco's
1:30 pm - Hike at Pyramid Mountain (about 1.5 miles from the Bianco's)
4:30 pm - Annual DOGS Holiday Party

Feel free to just come to the hike and party or just the party. For those that do this, we ask that you bring some sort of food donation that we will bring to the Soup Kitchen in Morristown.

We will provide lunch for people that do the TurkeyBike ride. For the party, please bring a dish to share. Please send email to solstice2017@d-o-g-s.org to say what you will be bringing. Consult the sign-up list to see what others plan to bring.

Inclement weather may cancel all parts of this day except the party.

Since it's a really early start, if you would like to stay over our house the night before the ride, we can accommodate a few couples. Let us know.

We will provide lunch at our house after the ride.

RSVP to mike@carenandmike.com with which parts of the day you will be participating in.

This event will also be the annual Holiday Party.

Time The ride leaves at 8:30 from CycleCraft. So you can either meet us at the bike shop, or meet at our house. Wheels down from our house promptly at 7:45.
Location Caren and Mike Bianco, 63 Taylortown Road, Montville, NJ 07045 - or - CycleCraft, 99 US Route 46, Parsippany, NJ 07054
Distance We will be riding from our house to CycleCraft (6.5 miles), then doing the TurkeyBike ride and then riding back, for a total of about 38 miles. You can also go directly to CycleCraft and just do the 25 miles instead. We might decide to come directly back to our house after dropping off the turkeys instead of going back to the bike shop, which will cut off a few miles. We'll decide on the day.
Terrain Moderately hilly. Last year's ride had about 1400 feet of climbing.
Refreshments Lunch at Bianco house after.
