| Stoked DOGS Camp and Ride 2007 | |
|---|---|
| Friday
Jun. 29 to Sunday Jul. 1 | Teams JetStream & TeamBreeze invite all members to come participate
in the fourth annual Camp and/or Ride event scheduled for Stokes
State Forest again this year.
Camping InfoWe'd like to get as many couples participating as possible. Place it on your schedule early. The more the merrier. Brenda was able to secure a GROUP site for this event. (Haskin's Group Campsite Site: I. See link below for map.) The advantage of this site is that it is not necessary to make your own site reservation. We are planning on sleeping and riding directly from our campsite on Friday and Saturday, packing up Sunday AM and riding from a nearby school parking lot. (See RIDE INFO section below.) Just check in with Brenda or Mark and let us know when you plan to arrive. The site is suited to accommodate 45 people. Showers and bathrooms are on site! If you are not the type who can endure sleeping on the ground, there also are cabins that may still be available in Stokes near our campsite. When we "camp", we typically eat off-site for dinner. We tentatively plan on having dinner Friday at Delmonico's Sunset Grille (973-948-5088) at 19 Rt. 206 South in Branchville just a few short miles from the Park because we had such a great time there last year. Saturday is open for dinner out, but last year we had so much extra food that we had a group smorgasbord/buffet early group dinner after our ride at the campsite. Breakfast and lunch are simple on-site preparations. Although we have heard that Saturday's breakfast might be a theme catered breakfast by Team M&M!! (Although if you prefer to bring food and cook at the camp site you are encouraged to do so for any or all meals.) Any day riders that would like to join us for dinner on Friday and/or Saturday are also welcome, but please let us know you would like to attend so we don't miss letting you in on the dinner details.

Ride InfoIf you prefer to sleep at home, you are more than welcome to join us for the group rides which will start about noon on Friday, and 10AM on Saturday & 11AM on Sunday. You are welcome to park and set up at our Haskin's Group Campsite Site I at no charge within the park for the Friday & Saturday Rides. We were told all you need to do is tell the park employee at the gatehouse that you are staying with us at the campsite (even if you are not staying "overnight") and they will not charge you the guest day use fee. We can do this until we have the 45 people limit for the campsite, which I am sure we will not surpass. The Sunday ride will start at the Sandyston-Walpack School in Layton, which is 5 miles from the campsite. FRIDAY'S ride will be short, about 22 miles and concentrate on the many roads and scenic sites within Stokes State Forest itself. SATURDAY'S & SUNDAY'S rides will be about 35 miles each with Sunday having a 50 mile option, and both days will cover many local roads in Sussex County, NJ, plus Sunday will also touch into PA & NY. Please plan on bringing your own refreshments, but following the Friday & Saturday ride we'll gather at the main Group Campsite for some post-ride celebration. RSVP us if you plan on attending a day ride if you want us to expect you and not leave before you arrive. Brenda's cell will be with her and hopefully always have service at 973-229-5368. Mark's cell phone: 908-295-5834.Should you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at Stokes or Brenda or Mark directly. So, clear your calendars and come join us for a load of fun and games, singing around the campfire and, of course, "s'mores". |
