Dec. 5 | Join us for a crisp fall ride in the Hunterdon/Morris county hills
and valleys. Last month, we did our normal Pancake Ride. This ride
is similar but some of the roads will be done in the opposite
direction. We will keep the ride at a nice easy pace, taking in
beautiful Morris and Hunterdon scenery along the way. A mid-ride
stop is planned at the Hacklebarney cider mill and post-ride pizza
in one of Califon's fine pizza parlors. Dutch treat.
For those of you who would like to have breakfast before the ride, the Califon Fire Department is having their monthly all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast, coffee, and orange juice event ($6). If you RSVP, then we can meet you and sit together. Either way, come out and enjoy this beautiful, scenic fall ride. |
| Time | 10:30 (Breakfast time 9:00) |
| Location | Califon Island Park, Califon |
| Distance | 24 miles |
| Terrain | Rolling to hilly |
| Refreshments | Breakfast at the Califon Firehouse (optional). Optional Dutch treat pizza after the ride. |

Dec. 12 | Please join Judy and me again this year for tandem offroad season in the
Pine Barrens. This season's DOGS offroad rides commence with a warm-up
ride of approximately 2 hours near Atsion Lake in the Barrens. We have
scouted and done extensive trail maintenance on two routes, both of which
are virtually all singletrack suitable for tandems, one straightforward
while the other is challenging to clean (i.e. no dabs).
We will meet at 8:30AM for breakfast at the Red Lion Diner, Red Lion Circle (the circle is the junction of Routes 70 and 206) east of Medford, NJ. Alternately you can join us at the meeting point at 10AM at the Atsion Ranger Station on Rt 206, approximately 10 miles south of Red Lion Circle on Rt 206. We will leave from there to ferry into the Pines offroad to the actual ride start. Rain or shine (rain just sets the sand up better!) Recommended tandem tire width: 2.1" or larger. We are shod with 2.4" WTB Motoraptors. Recommend that you do not wear white (eg whitetails); however Sunday is a non-hunting day. Bring a snack and drinks - no stores |
| Time | 8:30 AM for breakfast; ride leaves at 10 AM |
| Location | Red Lion for breakfast, Atsion for ride |
| Distance | approx. 2 hours+ riding time |
