Despite the "iffy" forecast for this weekend, the weather fully cooperated for our ride today. This ride was originally created for the 2008 MATES event in Flemington. We rode the "Medium Saturday" ride (with a shortcut!) and the "Lovely Return," a somewhat hilly, but truly lovely ride back from Deer Path Park. Although we only had a small turnout (three other teams had to drop out due to illnesses), we had a very nice time on this ride which shows off the best of Hunterdon County's back roads. There was very little traffic, a nice breeze and great company.
We stopped for a snack break at Deer Path Park (the location of the lunch stop for the 2008 MATES weekend) and continued on the 17 mile return trip to the Perkins parking lot. We had a very nice lunch at Perkins and discussed a couple other good ideas for future DOGS rides. Hopefully, we'll post those ride offerings to the DOGS website soon.
