Hill and Dale, Scale and Sail

We had 13 tandem teams attempt our challenging hilly ride...they all deserve kudos for their bravery and effort. The teams in attendance were:
HOSTS: Larry & Brenda Isherwood and Dave Snope & Susan Nicolich
WHO ELSE: Judy Allison & Malcolm Boyd, Dave Kristol & Marjorie Brandriss, Bob & Helen Bird, George & Linda Wells, Cam & Karen Witt, Walt Willard & Claire Hamanaka, Stu & Julie Conway, Paul & Jane Kimmel, Dan Dodson & Michelle Emerson, Rich LeGrand & Christina Chan and Tracey & Barbara Cate. AND on the slightly injured list...but attending the picnic were: Al (back problems) and wife, Deb Cudworth.

We want to say thanks to all who came to our ride and made it a fun-filled success. Also thanks to all who brought delicious food, etc. to share, with a special thanks to Judy and Malcolm for their Texas meal and theme to bid farwell to one of our wonderful tandem teams, Rich LeGrand & Christina Chan, who are moving to Texas the first week of October.... We will sorely miss them.

We could not have wished for better weather for our ride. There were morning goodies to prepare the cyclists for the 5 granny gear hills that were to come. The group started off together and then split into numerous groups of various paces. The roads were shady and lightly-traveled and traversed our teams through some of NJ's best quaint and scenic country roads. After, all but one team arrived back at the Isherwood's house, there was a spectacular feast to be had. Then after the quiet during the feed fest...the group broke into their usual DOGS chatter. Then the team (Tracey & Barbara) that had the most fun because they got to ride the longest arrived back and had their feast.

Then it was time to present Rich & Christina with the cake to bid them farwell and best wishes in Texas. They even received some farewell goodies. Then the GAME began... most of us played Christina's Pictionary... and some of those who were supposed to be spectators couldn't resist the temptation to blurt out some answers. The teams left in drips and drabs, but there were 2 1/2 teams ( Bob & Helen, Al & Deb and Dave S.) that stayed and visited the Isherwood's and then ordered pizza and finished the day at 8:30 pm.

The day was a roaring success...thanks to all....hope to see you all soon.

Larry & Brenda and (Dave S. & Susan N.)
