Finally a Saturday morning that was awash in sunshine. A cool breeze greeted us as well! Due to the rainout of last weekend, only two teams had this day free to join Cheryl and me for a tromp though the hills of Morris County. Team Double Dogs and Team DblOccupancy, hardcore street tandemists, saddled up for the 30+ mile ride. Larry, Brenda, Walt, Claire, Cheryl and I headed off from our home, ride sheets in hand.
Walt and Claire claimed the descents while Larry and Brenda whisked up the hills without a single evident "huff" or "puff". We stopped at the Golf Museum as on the April ride for a breather while Larry told a tandem tale or two. Back on the bikes, we headed off through residential Far Hills, downtown Basking Ridge, raced through New Vernon, and finally headed back through the Great Swamp, attached to Larry and Brenda's back wheel at 22-23 MPH for the four mile stretch. Note that they were frequently looking back and slowing just a bit to permit the rest of us to remain in the draft. One more 3/4 mile hill up from the center of Meyersville and it was all down hill back to the house.
Everyone remained and participated in the bar-b-que afterwards where we sat on the deck beneath the new retractable awning chatting about equipment and up-coming rides. Looking for better attendence on future rides. Missed all of you. See you again soon, I hope.
